BACKGROUND

As Founder and Lead Teacher, Janny brings authenticity and practicality to our Spanish & English lessons, drawing on her deep understanding of both languages and cultures. Born in Cuba, raised in the US, and traveled extensively, she offers a unique perspective that enriches our teaching. Having walked a mile in her students’ shoes, Janny has a deep understanding of their needs, allowing her to create engaging and relatable activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed to teach Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL) K-12 in Florida, Virginia, & Colorado

  • 20 years of experience educating kids, teens, and adults

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science; Minors in International Relations and Criminal Justice;
    Certificate in Law, Ethics, and Society

  • Colleges & Universities: UCCS, DU Law, FIU, and MDC

EXPERIENCE

Janny began her teaching career in 2003 in Miami, FL, where she helped night school students prepare to take the GED and high school state exam. She has since taught a variety of subjects, including Reading, ESOL, Government, Economics, History, Spanish, and ELA. Janny is passionate about helping her students succeed, and she uses her own experience as a language learner to build trust and provide them with the support they need. She has also organized and sponsored extracurricular activities and school clubs like Law & Order Leaders, Girl Power, and Spanish Club to help her students engage with the community and achieve their goals. 

In 2016 Janny founded ESPANGLISH. Through this venture, she has learned valuable entrepreneurial and business skills. Regardless of her role, Janny focuses on building positive relationships and creating an inviting and encouraging environment. She enjoys working with learners of all ages, appreciating the unique qualities that each age group brings to the learning process. Her students are drawn to her genuine and compassionate teaching style, and they appreciate her dedication to their success.
